New Director Named
The Glen Rock Board of Education recently approved the appointment of Ms. Linda Edwards as the district's new Director of Special Services. Ms. Edwards began her service to the district on June 15, replacing Dr. Philip Paterno, who retired from the district in April after serving in that capacity since July 2010.
Ms. Edwards comes to Glen Rock from the Scotch Plains-Fanwood School District, where she served as director of special services since 2013. Prior to that, she served as supervisor of special education for the Livingston Board of Education from 2011-2013, and was a learning disabilities teacher-consultant from 2004-2011 for the Mahwah Township Public Schools. From 1981-2004 she worked for the Forum School in Waldwick as a special education teacher.
Ms. Edwards holds master's degrees in special education and education leadership. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Rutgers University.
According to Superintendent Paula Valenti, "Linda Edwards is a distinguished educator who will bring a fresh perspective to the special services department of the Glen Rock Public Schools; we are excited to have Ms. Edwards join the administrative team".
"The Board is pleased that Linda Edwards will be joining us as director of special services," said Board President Rona McNabola. "Her strong background in teaching and leadership will be an asset to our district."
